I'm Stella, a ceramicist based in Sydney, Australia.
Featuring slow-made ceramics, Studio Star was born from my desire to bring warmth, joy, and comfort to others through handmade art. Each piece, whether functional or sculptural, is thoughtfully crafted with love and care, carrying that connection from me as the maker to the ceramic piece, and ultimately to its future owner.
My ceramics practice began after taking a ceramics course as part of my university studies, where I quickly fell in love with the hands-on and creative process of working with clay. Since then, Studio Star has grown from creating pieces at home in a small spare room into an evolving creative practice that I hope to continue expanding in the future.
Currently, every piece is entirely hand-built, embracing the beauty found in small differences and imperfections that make each work unique. Balancing functionality with artistic expression, my work centres around creating functional art designed to bring both playfulness and meaning into everyday rituals. Through bold colours and whimsical designs, my work aims to invite a sense of comfort, curiosity, and joy into the lives of others as well as my own.
